The most popular destinations in Europe for solo travelers
Traveling solo has increased immensely in popularity in the past years. You don’t have to wait for your friends to join you on your vacation anymore, why not take matters into your own hands and explore the world “Eat, Pray, Love” style! It might seem a bit frightening at first, but traveling solo rarely means being solo though. You’ll always meet people, if you’re just open towards it.
If you’re heading to Europe, there are a few places that are very popular for solo travelers. Check them out!
Berlin, Germany
Cool, trendy and hip – Berlin is a sure winner! Everyone loves Berlin, not because it’s a beautiful city (it really isn’t) but because of the atmosphere and the art scene. Berlin is alternative, it’s different and it’s so much fun. If you’ve ever wanted to go to a club that’s open 24/7, you’ll find it here. Berlin is also one of the more affordable capital cities in Europe and is also a reason why it attracts so many travelers.
Paris, France
The city of love isn’t just for couples. Paris is for everyone who wants to discover one of the world’s most loved cities. There are tons of galleries, museums, boulangeries(!!!), shops, street art, cafés, and much more to see in Paris. Grab a few macarons and sit in a park, marvel at the Eiffel Tower, wander around the Louvre and sit in a café and look at all the stylish Parisians passing by. It might not be one of the cheapest cities in Europe, but it is one of the most iconic.
Budapest, Hungary
If you’re traveling on a tighter budget, Budapest could be a great option. Eastern Europe is cheaper than Western Europe and young travelers flock to these parts to enjoy cheap beer, amongst other things. But it’s not just because of the cheap prices though. Budapest is incredibly beautiful, the city is packed with things to do, great food, plenty of affordable spas and a great nightlife. Head to one of the many famous ruin bars in Budapest for a fun time.
Lisbon, Portugal
Who doesn’t love warm weather, accessibility to stunning beaches and a city that’s absolutely stunning? Well, you can get it all here in Lisbon! And the best thing? It’s one of the more affordable cities in Europe as well! Lisbon is a delight to wander around in just to look at all the tiles, architecture and cobblestoned streets. The iconic neighborhoods Alfama and Bairro Alto are a must visit when you’re in the city. If you’re tired of walking around, just hop on a train or bus to the nearby beaches. You can either cross the bridge and go to ‘Costa da Caparica’ or you can take the train to ‘Cascais’ and explore the cute beach town.
